About Robbie

Robbie moved to Raleigh in 2007 to attend NC State University where he received many scholarships for his community service and for graduating 8th of about 400 in his high school class. Before graduating in 2012 with a BS in Business Management concentrating in Finance, Robbie had already gotten a big head start on his career in IT having held full-time positions at both Cisco and Netapp. Many of his early jobs centered around product management and involved bringing new products to market, and improving existing products based on customer engagement. He later found a niche in Cybersecurity that he was very passionate about. He now works for a consulting firm helping organizations ranging from US Intelligence agencies, healthcare providers, utility companies, and retail stores to secure their critical infrastructure.

Since graduating, Robbie has worked to become more involved in his local community by volunteering as a professional mentor at the NC State Poole College of Management, participating in our local chapter of Infraguard (an organization sponsored by the FBI that gets local government, business, and community leaders together to protect our critical infrastructures), and serving as the HOA President of the downtown Raleigh condo building where he lives.

In his free time, you may find Robbie out enjoying Raleigh's parks and greenways with his dog, Rawley, or out eating at one of Raleigh's many great restaurants. Robbie also has his pilot's license and uses his love of flying to explore all the NC has to offer, from the coast to the mountains.

Robbie was born and raised in New Bern, NC where he was very active in Centenary United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 13 (where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout), the local amateur radio club, and Teen Court. His father, Michael, was a career biologist with the National Park Service and worked at Cape Lookout National Seashore for 27 years until he retired. His mom, Kim, has been a Physician Assistant for over 15 years. Robbie's family has been in the New Bern area for many generations dating back to at least the 1700s with his great(x6)-grandfather, General Frederick Hargett, who served for 15 years in the NC General Assembly. Robbie is proud that his grandfather is the namesake of Hargett St and New Bern Ave in Raleigh.
